ABOUT WAKA SOCIAL FOUNDATION

Empowerment, Not Charity.

Waka Social Foundation works with underserved schools and communities to improve learning environments, empower teachers, and expand access to AI and digital skills across Africa.

We believe sustainable impact begins by strengthening people and the environments in which they learn, work and grow.

Our work combines education, infrastructure, technology and community empowerment to create practical pathways toward a more inclusive future.

OUR STORY

We Started With a School. We Discovered a Bigger Mission.

Our journey began with a simple idea.

We wanted to establish an AI learning lab in an underserved school in Nigeria and provide teachers with practical digital skills.

When we arrived, however, we discovered that the school’s needs went far beyond technology.

The learning environment itself required attention.

Rather than walk away from the original plan, we expanded the mission.

We chose to help improve the school first.

That experience shaped the organization we are building today.

We learned that meaningful digital transformation cannot happen in isolation from the realities people face.

Sometimes, before you bring technology into a classroom, you have to help make the classroom ready for it.

That lesson continues to guide our work.

OUR MISSION

To empower underserved schools and communities across Africa through improved learning environments, teacher development, AI and digital education, and access to future-ready opportunities.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Dignity

Every community deserves to be approached with respect—not pity.

Empowerment

Our goal is to build capacity, confidence and opportunity.

Access

Technology and quality education should not be limited by geography or income.

People First

Technology works best when teachers, students and communities are equipped to use it.

Long-Term Impact

We seek solutions that continue creating value after a project is completed.

Partnership

The biggest challenges require collaboration across communities, institutions and sectors.

OUR VALUES

Listen First

We listen to communities before deciding what they need.

Build With, Not For

We believe communities should participate in shaping the solutions that affect them.

Practical Impact

We prioritize interventions that create measurable improvements.

Future Ready

We prepare learners and educators not only for today’s challenges, but for tomorrow’s opportunities.

Accountability

We believe supporters deserve transparency about what we do, why we do it and what their support makes possible.

Dignity

We tell stories that recognize the strength and potential of the communities we serve.

OUR APPROACH

Listen. Transform. Equip. Measure. Scale.

1. Listen

We engage schools, teachers, students and communities to understand their realities.

2. Assess

We identify the most important barriers to learning and opportunities for intervention.

3. Transform

We support practical improvements to learning environments and school infrastructure.

4. Equip

We provide teachers and students with digital, AI and future-ready learning opportunities.

5. Measure

We document progress, outcomes and lessons learned.

6. Scale

We use what we learn to strengthen future projects and expand the model to more communities.
