Supporting Our Mission 

Waka Social Foundation welcomes support from individuals, institutions, foundations, corporations, and other partners who share our commitment to improving education and expanding digital opportunities across Africa. 

Contributions help us advance our programs, subject to the purpose of the fundraising appeal, applicable restrictions, and our organizational responsibilities. 


1. How Donations Are Processed 

Where our website directs you to GoFundMe or another external fundraising platform, your donation is processed through that platform. 

The platform’s payment procedures, terms, fees, privacy practices, and applicable refund policies may apply. 

Please review the platform’s information before completing a donation. 


2. Use of Donations 

We seek to use contributions responsibly and in furtherance of our mission.

Depending on the fundraising appeal, donations may support: 

  • School infrastructure improvements. 
  • AI and digital learning environments. 
  • Teacher training and professional development. 
  • Student education and empowerment. 
  • Learning resources. 
  • Program delivery and monitoring. 
  • Other mission-related expenses. 

Where a fundraising appeal identifies a specific project, we aim to use the funds consistently with the appeal and any applicable donor restrictions. 

If circumstances materially change and a project cannot proceed as intended, we will consider appropriate alternatives and communicate material changes where reasonably practicable. 

We will respect applicable legal obligations and donor restrictions when determining how funds may be used. 


3. Donation Refunds 

Donation refunds are subject to the terms and procedures of the platform through which the donation was made, as well as applicable law. 

If you believe a donation was made in error or you have a question about a transaction, please contact the relevant fundraising platform. 

You may also contact us at join@waka.social for assistance in identifying the appropriate next step. 

We cannot promise that every donation can be refunded. 


4. Donation Receipts and Tax Treatment

Donation receipts and tax documentation may be provided by the fundraising platform or Waka Social Foundation, depending on the transaction and applicable requirements. 

Waka Social Foundation’s U.S. 501(c)(3) determination is currently pending.

Do not assume that a contribution is tax-deductible in the United States solely because it is made through our website or a third-party fundraising platform.

Please consult the relevant platform and an independent tax professional about the treatment of your contribution.
